Energy Saving > Fighting against Climate Change

In January 2008 all of Europe's Prime Ministers and Heads of Governments of the European Union signed a compromise to fight against Climate Change in three areas and objectives called 20/20/20 for year 2020:

Reduce carbon emissions by 20%;
Give a boost to renewable energy to represent 20% of total sources;
Improve energy efficiency by 20%.

On the renewable energy ground, Germany and Spain are leading the european market, but there is still a lot of work to do to reach the 20% objective. Nevertheless, countries like Spain or Italy are still dependant on energy produced in third countries like France. On the energy efficiency ground, governments are creating state energy agencies (like IDAE in Spain) to promote reforms and subsidies that today are still insufficient for the residential market.

How can we improve energy efficiency for the already built houses? There is a need for simple and economic solution that could help users to save energy in their homes, improving their consumption behaviour. After all, the most efficient energy is the one that is not consumed, and therefore does not pollute.
